The weather has been brutal!! Today was like 34 degrees and very windy. Scott ran on about 7 hours of sleep over a two day period and I still wasn't feeling smashing.

Our times weren't real terrible, but he and I both felt miserable and thought the 12th mile would never make it.

We stopped at the car a couple times and also took a few more walk breaks than normal.

Our average moving pace was 9:38 and the average pace with all our stops was 10:18.

M1: 9:54
M2: 9:13
M3: 9:07
M4: 9:24
M5: 9:59
M6: 10:13
M7: 14:51
M8: 9:21
M9: 11:04
M10: 9:38
M11: 10:35
M12: 10:12Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-86572805301820393872010-12-11T15:41:00.006-05:002010-12-13T22:13:52.654-05:00Marathon Training: Day 30- 29 days to goForgot to post last night. Supposed to run 12 outside today, but the weather was not permitting...Rainy!!

So, Scott and I went to the gym and did a little on the treadmill. We are going to get our 12 outside tomorrow.

I'm still battling this crazy earache and sore throat and running a low grade temperature...hope maybe today all the sweating I did will cause it to leave me alone!!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-6778731123994551112010-12-09T18:44:00.001-05:002010-12-09T18:47:13.506-05:00Marathon Training: Day 30- 31 days to goThe weather was half way cooperating so Scott and I went to Hugh McRae Park to get in our 6 miles. I knew I had to run another 2 when I got home, but I left nothing in the tank!

I was really really good and ran without looking at my watch and being concerned about pace. So, I ended up on the treadmill once again! I did try to mix it up a little though and I varied the incline between and and 2% throughout my 6 mile run. I should also mention that watching Survivor helped to pass the time a little.

Planning on running outside tomorrow because the temperature is supposed to hit 45 degrees!! It's about time it warms up a little :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-389539525372195042010-12-07T23:13:00.002-05:002010-12-07T23:19:08.257-05:00Marathon Training: Day 28- 33 days to goWent to Olive Garden for dinner and filled my belly with salad and breadsticks, and also found room for an entree that Scott and I shared.

Came home, changed, and hopped on the treadmill and did 5 miles and then walked a 1/2 mile. I'm soooo glad we ran yesterday.

Relaxed all day today and the legs/heel/calf have felt 100% normal and I'm glad. I think tomorrow I'll do like 3 miles on the treadmill really slow - soley because I can't tell I ran 19 miles yesterday.

Hope everyone is having fun doing whatever they need to be doing whethers it's shopping/exercising or just being happy!! :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-54360581849785125492010-12-04T16:23:00.003-05:002010-12-04T16:31:26.155-05:00Marathon Training: Day 25 - 36 days to goDecided to do our run today instead of tomorrow. The weather seemed a little more optimal today plus we want to do the toys for tots motorcycle ride tomorrow.

We started off at Greenfield Lake and ran down 3rd street, and hung a right on Market. Ran past Hanover High School and kept going. Turn around and headed back because we wanted to be at the car around mile 6 to get some water, etc....

We then headed to Sunset Park where we ran another 5 miles and made it back to the car. This way we'd only have to do 2 laps around the lake and we would have out 19.

Feeling really good on this run, so after the first lap around the lake, I was getting worried because I didn't feel horrible.

Then, the last lap was finally here....felt pretty good and tried to push myself a little to see if the last few miles could have a pretty good time....and they did!!!

Our average with all the stops was: 10:24, but our actual moving pace without the car stops and all was 9:50...WOW!!!!

M1: 9:44
M2: 9:41
M3: 9:42
M4: 9:46
M5: 9:47
M6: 11:10 (BR break)
M7: 13:18: (car)
M8: 9:57
M9: 10:17
M10: 10:31 (walked to drink water)
M11: 9:42
M12: 14:20 (car)
M13: 10:27 (walked finishing up water)
M14: 9:26
M15: 9:33
M16: 13:08 (car)
M17: 9:08
M18: 8:50....YEAH!!!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-91804310381101386312010-12-03T18:18:00.002-05:002010-12-03T18:21:45.203-05:00Marathon Training: Day 24 - 37 days to goNothing like being flexible when it comes to training for this marathon. Scott and I were supposed to run 5 tonight, but because he is going to work tonight, and we want to do the Toys for Tots Motorcycle run on Sunday, we've decided to do our long run tomorrow...so looks like 19 miles here I come!

We're going to run a little later tomorrow in hopes that it will will up a little bit!!! Supposed to be like 30 degrees or something in the morning at the time we normally run...and I'm not wanting to do that at all!

So, he'll sleep in some, of course I will too, then we will head out on our merry way. Then Sunday will surely be my Funday once again!!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-84783415784979438722010-12-02T19:01:00.002-05:002010-12-02T19:05:38.075-05:00Marathon Training: Day 23 - 38 days to goBefore I even left home to go run I was dreading it with a capital D! Bundled up and Scott and I headed to Hugh McRae Park...the only good think at the time, cause I love to run there.

Started out a little slow, hoping to warm up the heel and calf, then began to pick up the pace a little. My heel didn't hurt at all, but my calf was a little tight feeling. As I kept running, the calf felt a little better, and eventually got about 85% okay.

As we kept runnning I kept looking at the average pace on my watch. I noticed it kept getting better and better. Then, it became a game with me because I wanted to see how low I could get my pace.

I was definitely running this distance out of my comfort zone. But, I did it!!!!! Did 5 miles in 43 minutes

M1: 9:18
M2: 8:46
M3: 8:25
M4: 8:20
M5: 8:09Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-24241362386344422872010-12-01T19:35:00.003-05:002010-12-01T19:42:16.499-05:00Marathon Training: Day 22 - 39 days to goWell, made it out of the 40's....this marathon will be here before I know it. I'm really wishing it would hurry up because I'm getting paranoid that I'm going to injure something as I prepare.

Ran 5 miles tonight on the treadmill with my new shoes. I sure do love the Brooks Adreneline 10's and glad I found them 4 months ago...thanks Omega Sports!!!!

I feel like maybe I waited just a tad too long to get the new shoes because my left heel has been a tiny bit achy (has done this before) and my right lower calf seems to have a "ting" to it (again has done this before). These minor ailments have cured themselves in the past and I'm hoping by running in the new shoes, it will happen again.

I did run a little slower than usual on the treadmill tonight as I broke in the new shoes, heel, and calf. Managed to get my 5 in as planned, and felt really good. Nothing hurt at all while I ran.

When I got off the treadmill, I did go ahead and take a precautionary measure by putting an icepak on my right calf, just in case! I feel like I may be a little sensitive since I'm worried about something going wrong before my marathon...but....the ice won't hurt anything....lol

Planning on running another 5 again tomorrow and hopefully, the weather will be okay and we can run outside.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-46764789965630499862010-11-30T20:32:00.002-05:002010-11-30T20:35:18.826-05:00Marathon Training: Day 21 - 40 days to goRest day again today...I sure do take advantage of these rest days! Scott on the otherhand isn't lazy like me....lol

Went to Dick's today and purchased another pair of Brooks Adreneline 10's...love them shoes! Looking forward to trying them out tomorrow when I run my 5 miles. I think it's supposed to rain, so guess I'll break them in on the treadmill.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-39247638565929663992010-11-29T22:20:00.002-05:002010-11-29T22:21:07.886-05:00Marathon Training: Day 20 - 41 days to goWell, it was surely a rest day! Nothing really new to post except I will definitely have to purchase new shoes tomorrow before running again...my heel is starting to feel a little funny :(Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-78917865168056664772010-11-28T11:54:00.002-05:002010-11-28T12:03:10.111-05:00Marathon Training: Day 19 - 42 days to goAll I can say is BRRRRR!!!!! I have gotten so spoiled with the warmer weather that we've been running in. We left this morning it was 35 degrees! We are either really dedicated or really insane or I suppose Insanely Dedicated....lol

Bundled up nice and warm and headed out. It wasn't too awful bad, and would have been half way okay if the stupid wind wasn't blowing...and for that know me, know I hate the wind!...Hence, the reason I don't like running the loop at Wrightsville Beach.

Anyways, out time for the 13 miles wasn't too bad. Our average moving time was a 9:45 pace, but after the car stop, and two stops at the port-o-potty for Scotty....we ended up with a 9:52 pace. We were still within our long run mile pace of somewhere around 10. At this point, I surely don't want to push it too hard in the longer runs and risk hurting something..getting too close now!

M1: 10:06 (hard time getting going)
M2: 9:41
M3: 9:45
M4: 10:28 (potty break and big downtown hill...and I ran it!!!)
M5: 9:37
M6: 10:24 (car)
M7: 10:53 (car)
M8: 9:44
M9: 9:35
M10: 10:40 (bathroom again for Scott....lol)
M11: 9:15
M12: 9:20
M13: 8:55 (yeah me..under 9 minutes)

For some reason my last 3 miles were my best...could it be because I saw the end in sight??Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-85304338381807703902010-11-27T21:50:00.002-05:002010-11-27T21:52:39.017-05:00Marathon Training: Day 18 - 43 days to goHad a great rest day. Well, I wasn't 100% lazy...Scott and I took Harley man walking at Greenfield Lake. I would guess we walked about 2 miles total. We walked through some of the neighborhoods around the lake looking at potential houses one day...we would love to live in something smaller and more convenient to things we do...

Well, heading to bed...gotta get up early in the morning to run 13 miles in the cold! YUCK!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-10450527160344182212010-11-26T13:25:00.003-05:002010-11-26T13:30:14.014-05:00Marathon Training: Day 17 - 44 days to goMan, I surely wasn't feeling it today. But, I knew I had to get my 5 miles in. I laid in bed as long as possible, and finally managed to get up aroun 9:30. Then had a pop-tart, dressed and headed to Wrightsville Beach to run.

Scott and I got there and both had the feeling of dread. It was warm out, which I was thankful for, but it was extremely windy! I hate running in the wind. Generally when you run in one direction against the wind, it helps you out when you head in the opposite direction, but for some reason it wasn't helping!!!!

When we got back to the car and headed home, it began to rain and the wind seemed to pick up even more....glad we got ours over with!

Came home, ate Thanksgiving left overs...YUMMY!!!!! Now I'm looking forward to the rest day tomorrow.

M1: 9:14
M2: 8:58
M3: 9:49 (walked a little trying to get my music fixed)
M4: 9:06
M5: 9:02

Average pace: 9:14 with a time of 46:13Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-1156498009548927572010-11-25T10:10:00.003-05:002010-11-25T10:19:12.771-05:00Marathon Training: Day 16 - 45 days to goHappy Thanksgiving!!! Scott and I got up and did our own Turkey Trot this morning. We knew we needed to get 8 miles in today so we headed downtown. We decided to run a little difference area this morning.

We parked on Market Street and ran up to the YMCA where we saw others finishing up the Y's Turkey Trot. We hung a left and then ran back up Chestnutt heading towards downtown. What a great area Chestnutt Street is....finally finishing up mile 5, we stopped at the car. I needed some water and needed to shed some clothing...geez...for some reason it was so freaking warm this morning. It seemed unusually warm to me.

We headed back towards downtown, as I'm running in my sportsbra now...yes, I was getting some looks. As we pass 3 men, Scott says "you just made their day"..I laughed and we kept on gettin' it!

Winding through downtown and all the hills possible it seemed, finally we made it to mile 8! DONE!!!! So, now I've burnt enough calories to not feel so guilty about filling my belly full!

As you can see miles 1 - 5 we had a pace of about 9:18...pretty good...then we lost 4 miles at the car, so miles 6-8 don't look so smashing...

M1: 9:32
M2: 9:10
M3: 9:19
M4: 9:16
M5: 9:15
M6: 12:53...stopped at the car for about 4 minutes
M7: 9:47
M8: 8:57...yeah....under 9 minute mile after running 8 :)

Our average moving pace was 9:25, but with the stop we finished with a 9:45 pace. We did our miles on the treadmill. I did my scheduled 5 and of course he did more....

I felt pretty good on the treadmill...my butt muscles (lol) weren't nearly as sore today. I think we may get up in the morning and do a turkey trot run...we have to get 8 tomorrow at some point.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1651458806293659749.post-40945787058974405622010-11-23T22:22:00.002-05:002010-11-23T22:23:40.529-05:00Marathon Training: Day 14 - 47 days to goWell, nothing really to add today except it was another rest day.
