Back from the Mountains

It was a spur of the moment thing, but last week we decided to go check out the cabins in the mountains. So, Saturday morning we got up early and drove to Linville, NC where we checked into our "park model" type log home. These are made out of actual logs, even though it's not an actual "cabin." We stayed from Saturday until today and we drove in so Scott could make it for work.

We went to Linville Caverns and walked around, took the Blue Ridge Parkway a ways and stopped and some of the oversights to look. We hiked a little, not much because we didn't bring the proper shoes, but it was still fun. One night we even went to a ski slope, didn't ski of course, but it was really neat to see it.

Our plan this weekend was to get away, have fun and do whatever came to mind. We didn't go with an actual agenda except to check out the cabin we stayed in.

Here is the outside of the cabin we stayed in - it doesn't look like it, but it's actually made out of logs.

Running behind the cabin was a stream. The water was rushing through the stream and it sounded so good!

Here is the inside. We really loved the inside and the color. It was so comfy! Just really warm feeling.

The second picture was taken from the loft - and yes, I'm in front of the fireplace...I'm sure no one is surprised by that one.
Outside on the porch was a hot tub. It felt good at night because you were sitting in hot water but cold air was blowing on your face.

Here are a couple pictures from out tour in Linville Caverns. It was a guided tour that took us through the base of a mountain.

The dark spot that looks like ball is a bat.

I like that cabin, and the little sign on the end of it "River's Edge"....reminds me of home!
