LSD...LSD...no, not my drug....Long Slow Distance!!!!
Got up this morning around 7'ish and Scott had some coffee made, so we sat down for coffee and some pancakes before our LSD today. Our LSD consisted of 17 miles...yes, that is 17! Longest we've ran yet.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous today. It started off this morning a little cool, not too bad though because the sun was shining bright and the wind was calm..that goodness..I love you Mother Nature!!!
We parked at Greenfield Park and ran down towards downtown. We made past PPD and then circled around and ran back along the waterfront...what a great run the first 6 miles were. We stopped at the car to get something to drink and to also remove some of our long sleeve clothing since it was warming up and we surely were. We lost about 4 minutes right there by just standing at the car.After that, we did another 7 through Sunset Park and up to Shipyard and back to the lake. We were around 2:15 at the 13.1 point. We stopped back at the car again to get something to drink and again shed more clothing, well Scott needed to take off his t-shirt and put on a tank. We lost about another 3 minutes there.
Feeling good at the 13.1 point, we thought wow, this last 4 miles won't be very bad at all.We were feeling pretty good and confident. We start running and about mile 15 I'm not sure what happened, but it seem really tough. I thought wow, just two more miles. Finally mile 16 was here and I needed to walk, so we walked 0.1, and started back up. I counted down....8 tenths, 7 tenths, then half a mile left, then quarter mile..and finally the good ole Garmin beeped and mile 17 had been reached.
Our mile time goal was 10 min per mile, so we did pretty good.
1 = 9:56
2 = 9:48
3 = 9:58
4 = 10:11
5 = 10:21 (Hill)
6 = 9:47
7 = 13:13 (stopped at car for water, etc)
8 = 9:59
9 = 9:43
10 = 10:03
11 = 9:48
12 = 10:03
13 = 10:16
14 = 12:59 (stopped at car again)
15 = 9:31..WOW ..really???
16 = 10:03
17 = 10:09
We then walked about a quarter mile to the car, got some water, and walked another quarter mile. So, that was my day...how was yours?
