Blueberry Festival 5k 2010 by runningwithkel at Garmin Connect - Details
.............................................................................
Just want to start by saying I was somewhat disgruntled when I registered for the race this morning. This was the third time that I'd ran this race and the first time it rained and the data was lost, the second time it was 93 degrees, scorching hot, so this time I didn't preregister.
Got to the race this morning and registered to find out there weren't anymore shirts and they weren't mailing them out. The lady Gray L., who we all know works a lot of the races, says in a not so nice way... "that is why it pays to preregister"...I so wanted to say something but I didn't. The notion of not getting a shirt bothered me, but what really got me was she said there is a box of shirts over here that we are selling for $10. So, you're telling me I paid $25 to race, and didn't get a shirt, but yet you are selling them for $10??? Oh Lord...I had to really focus on not showing myself!
Well, the race started, and yes on time thank goodness because last year it didn't. It was very hot and muggy but I managed to run it all without walking. My Garmin was accurate according to their signs for mile 1 only. Mile 2 on the Garmin was before the marker they set out and mile 3 on the Garmin was way off from their marker. I finished the race showing 3.29 miles instead of 3.1. I talked with a couple others that came up to me to see what mine read, and we all had like 3.28, 3.29, and 3.29. So the new course for this year was off, hence the 28:44 time I had.
I'm now frantically searching for the race director to let them know how upsetting it was to not get a shirt when they did have some and that I'll not be running their race again, nor will my friends either. They probably won't give a crap, but it makes me feel better to stress to them my unhappiness!
