Did the Wilma Dash 5k downtown tonight. The race was a womens only race, but Scott joined in about 0.25 into it and ran along side with me. The race was a tough one getting started because I didn't get up front and the first few minutes were congested trying to get out of the parking lot and on to Water Street.
Once I was able to get in front of the Hilton, things had fanned out a little and that is about where Scott joined me.
It was very hot, about 86 degrees, and that made for some tough running. I was doing okay, but as usual when I came to the hill there by Chandlers Wharf, it kicked my butt. I felt like I was crawling up the thing. Finally made, it and then to the 1 mile mark and my time was like 8:20, which wasn't good. I got a little disappointed when I saw the time, but I kept on running.
Finally making it to the nearly 2 mile mark when I got water. Again, I was really thirsty. After drinking the water I felt a little better, but I was still hot. I was thinking I'd have a good time because I thought for sure the rest of the race would be rather flat, but nope I was wrong. We went up the incline (I'll call it a hill), near the Swartz Center, and I walked the entire incline (hill)! Didn't attempt to run it. I just felt like I couldn't. But, eventually made up, and back, and then to the finish line.
I was glad to see it the finish line. My time was 26:15, which is off a little compared to my other race times. But, considering I walked and the start wasn't the greatest I guess my time wasn't that bad. I ended up getting 4th out of 39 people in my age group, and I'm happy with that. The third place winner did it in 25:48. I just wonder...did I give up on myself at that hill???? I'm still beating myself up about walking...walking in a 5k!!! I didn't walk in the half marathon, and had to walk today....what gives????

Kelly, how the heck did I not know you had a blog? Have you been keeping this a secret from me? Your blog is much nicer than mine; thus, I have blog envy. Perhaps I'll post my PRs, upcoming races, etc. I'd better get on that now.
BTW, and forgive me if I've already asked you, are you running the Bright Night 5k tomorrow? Yours truly is.

Ha ha...blog envy :) Yeah -I've had it for a while. I've been trying to be better updating it with what I'm doing. I tried the daily mile site, but I like my blog the best.
